MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (AP) -- A 32-year-old man has been convicted of being the triggerman in the killing of a southern Illinois businessman.
Jefferson County jurors convicted Demetrius Cole of shooting Randy Farrar twice in the head during a July 2006 robbery of the victim's Mount Vernon home.
Farrar was found dead at the bottom of his basement stairs. He had been beaten and shot in the head.
Cole's brother awaits trial in the case. Cole's girlfriend, Krysta Donoho, was convicted in 2007 of first-degree murder and robbery and is serving a 45-year sentence.
A meeting is set for Tuesday to schedule Cole's sentencing.
