(KMOV) -- News 4 is learning new details about a two-year-old girl who was so severely beaten that doctors say she may need a feeding tube for the rest of her life.

The suspect Kraig Monroe, 24, is the boyfriend of the girl’s mother.

On Thursday Eddie Runyon the biological father of two-year-old Amanda, spoke with News 4.

Eddie Runyon says that he is keeping it together and he says his focus is not on who did this to his daughter right now, all he cares about is his daughter walking out of the hospital at some point.

The last time Eddie saw Amanda before she ended up in the hospital was in January.

He lives in Kentucky, but says he's always been and always will be a part of his daughter's life.

Eddie says no kid deserves to endure what his little girl has.

“I’m angry, but I’m more hurt,” Eddie said. “Two-year-olds should be watching Sesame Street, playing with baby dolls, playing house and trying to read books and coloring. They shouldn’t be laying in a bed right now hooked to 14 different machines.”

Monroe, the man accused of beating two-year-old Amanda, is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail on $500,000 bond. He has been charged with aggravated battery to a child.
