Cardinals Spring Training: Travel roster set for tomorrow's game

Jupiter, Fl (KMOV) - Cardinals manager Tony La Russa just posted a sheet announcing the roster for tomorrow's exhibition game versus the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie.

According to the sheet (view above) , eight pitchers will make the trip from Jupiter to Port St. Lucie.

The pitchers going: Ben Jukich, Adam Ottavino, Francisco Samuel, Lance Lynn, Evan MacLane, Fernando Salas, Eduardo Sanchez, and Charlie Zink

MacLane is getting the start for the Cardinals, as management wants to give him more exposure to big league hitters. Samuel, Ottavino, Salas, and Zink are also scheduled to pitch. The rest are presumeably there for insurance purposes.

As for the position players, Matt Holliday, Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, and Felipe Lopez are the most significant names not making the trip to the Mets spring training facility

The absence of Lopez, who La Russa said might not play the first week because of a late arrival to camp, will mean increased playing time for Allen Craig and Joe Mather. Both guys are fighting for a roster spot at this point in spring training and will want to take advantage.
