A national healthcare products organization took out a full page ad in the Post Dispatch against a proposed bill by Alderman Stephen Gregali. He wants to make any cold medicine with pseudoephedrine prescription only in order to reduce meth making.
The ad lobbies against that bill. Alderman Rigali says he feels bad for the people who don't have a regular relationship with a physician, but the meth epidemic outweighs their added cost and trouble. He says police tell him that meth makers from the west come up I-44, and go to areas like Hampton Village at Chippewa and Hampton, where there are several places to buy Sudafed, then they hop back on the highway and keep going. They shopping spree is over before any pattern is realized.
What do you think? Should Sudafed be prescription only?
