Jupiter, Fl (KMOV) - It's a windy, chilly morning here in Jupiter, Fl, as I am actually wearing a jacket for the first time since I've been down here.
Alright, no more complaining from me, since it's currently 16 degrees in St. Louis. I just had to vent to someone.
Anyways, just picked the workout schedule for today, and thought I'd share some of the highlights of the day.
- Today, ace Chris Carpenter and new Cardinal Brad Penny will both throw live batting practice, which is basically a drill simulating a game-type at bat. The two will throw against Matt Holliday, Colby Rasmus, and Ryan Ludwick. Allen Craig and Joe Mather will also face the two starters, a good opportunity to make a big impression.
- Pitchers fielding practice, or PFP, goes full throttle today. This part of spring training is very important for pitchers, as it's really the only time of the year pitchers get to truly work on their defense.
- I'm hoping to catch up with shortstop Brendan Ryan sometime today. Ryan is recovering from wrist surgery earlier this month, but has been able to take part in some drills so far in camp. I want to ask him how his rehabbing has gone so far and if he's worried at all that another shortstop (like Lugo) might step up in his absence. Stay tuned.
