St. Louis County voters will be asked in April to approve a sales tax hike to fund mass transit. Metro says without it, those cuts that devastated so many riders last March will be necessary. Critics say it's a scare tactic. It will be riders caught in the middle of the war of words. Today, area leaders at the East West Gateway Council of Governments praised the "new" administration of Robert Baer at Metro, saying the financial transparency is laudable. We'll know in April if that turnaround is sufficient to overcome the economy and the tax passes.
