Three businesses damaged in Vandalia, Illinois fire

(KMOV) -- Firefighters from three departments were called in to put out a fire in Vandalia, Illinois.
The fire burned for several hours and damaged multiple buildings.
News 4 is told that the fire began around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the 300 block of West Gallatin in Vandalia.
 
The flames severley damaged at least four businesses there including, Gathes Tax and Accounting, Gerkin Insurance and Donaldson’s Carpet.
 
No injuries have been reported at this time.
 
The state fire marshal is investigating the blaze. Residents told News 4 that judging by the blast they heard they suspect there was some sort of gas or propane explosion. 
 
Vandalia is 60 miles northeast of St. Louis.
