(KMOV)-- The Missouri chapter of the NAACP says MoDOT doesn’t hire enough minorities and women.

The group called the media together to explain that after weeks of trying to get something done on the local level they are filing a federal complaint.
Adolphus Pruitt with the NAACP says, “MoDOT will say that we have increased our minority hiring but they won’t also tell you that they increased the separation of minorities. So two went out the door, two went in and they are bragging about minority hiring. Well actually those aren’t new hires those are replacement hires."
A MoDOT spokesperson told News 4 the department has worked hard to hire more minorities and women.
According to the state's figures, MoDOT increased minority employment by 19% since 2007.
