(KMOV) -- Two people have been charged in connection with a body that was found in the Metro-East on Saturday.
The body of William Javaux, 54, was found around 7:30 a.m. on Canal Road in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Kip Joyce, 31, and Erin Brown, 26, are now facing felony charges of concealment of a homicidal death. Joyce is also facing drug induced homicide charges.
According to the Roxana police department, someone called 911 after finding Javaux’s body lying in the road.
Police investigated and found that Javaux went with Brown, who is his niece, and Joyce on Thursday afternoon to St. Louis to purchase heroin. Police say that all three used the heroin and Javaux overdosed on the drug while they were all in a vehicle.
Investigators say Joyce and Brown took Javaux back to Joyce’s home that night. They reportedly carried Javaux into the home and placed him on the floor where he eventually died.
The next night, Joyce and Brown allegedly put Javaux’s body in the back of a pickup truck and drove him to Canal Road, where they left his body on the road.
Joyce is being held on $200,000 bond and Brown is being held on $50,000 bond.
