Eastern Missouri postmaster indicted

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- An eastern Missouri postmaster and two others are indicted on fraud and bribery charges for a scheme that federal prosecutors say cost the U.S. Postal Service $2.9 million.

Indictments were announced Friday for 49-year-old Robert Scott Gray, 39-year-old Teresa Tremusini and 52-year-old Michael Jones.

Gray is owner of SG Print & Mail. Tremusini was the postmaster in Festus and Jones was a postal employee.

The indictment alleges that Gray directed another postal worker, Donna Beckman, to lie about the number of pre-canceled stamps used on mailings, and to falsify documents.

Prosecutors say Gray paid Tremusini $20,000 and Jones $10,000 as part of the fraud.

It wasn't clear if Gray, Tremusini or Jones had attorneys.

Beckman faces sentencing in May after pleading guilty to mail fraud this week.
