Alton man accused of ramming ex-fiance's car

ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- An Alton man is jailed on $50,000 bond after being accused of ramming his ex-fiance's car while the couple's two children were inside it.
Twenty-year-old Michael Scheer of Alton is charged with felony criminal property damage and a misdemeanor count of endangering a child's life. He's also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia that sheriff's deputies reportedly found during his arrest.
Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells says Scheer rammed the woman's car until it crashed, then tried to punch a male passenger in it. That man held Scheer down until authorities arrived.
No injuries resulted from the confrontation Saturday night in Godfrey.
Scheer doesn't have a listed home telephone number. Court records don't show whether he has an attorney.
