I covered that flipped over big rig on I-270 this morning in Bellefontaine Neighbors. We found a great vantage point along Dunn Road. We less than 100 yards from all the action. The only thing keeping us back was a fence, a very steep decline and three lanes of moving interstate traffic.
The frustrating part was I could see the driver for much of the time. I big guy walking around with no problem. I saw him showing papers to police and talking on his cell phone. I wanted so badly to talk to him about what happened, what it was like as he was flipping over and what he thinks about how he was able to walk away from it all.
The interstate was too noisy for me to attempt to shout at him to get his attention. Heck, even if I had a bullhorn and he was willing to talk to me, he couldn't have gotten to me either. Same obstacles I had in getting to him.
It would have been great to get his insight as well has to just shake his hand and tell him I'm glad he's okay.
