1St grader mauled by dog is recovering from multiple surgeries

Lexi Middleton has been in and out of hospitals two times since a neighbor's dog mauled her near her her home in Cuba, Missouri on February 5th. The seven year old lost teeth in the attack, her cheekbone was shattered, and she sustained puncture wounds to her neck.

Lexi's family did not have insurance and fundraisers have been held to help pay medical bills.

On Saturday, May 22nd, The Lemay Aces will hold another fundraiser from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Four Seas Banquet Facility at 1910 Serbian Dr. in St. Louis.  Admission is $20 a person.  A raffle will be held for the chance to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle.  Tickets for the raffle are $50/each and a drawing will be held on July 3rd.  For more information, call Lenny Wiesehan at 314-680-3413.

No criminal charges were ever filed in the dog attack case.  On February 8th, the dog was found shot to death in the neighbor's backyard.  At the time, the owner of the dog (a pit bull) told News 4 he did not know who shot the dog.
