MONTICELLO, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri officials are watching flooding closely as rising waters claim another life.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 25-year-old Kourtnie L. Geisendorfer of Lewistown drowned Saturday after driving her car onto a flooded road near the northeast Missouri town of Monticello.
She is the second person to die on a flooded road in recent days. Thirty-two-year-old Jody Jones of Rutledge died late Wednesday after his vehicle was swept away by a flash flood near Lancaster in northern Missouri.
The State Emergency Management Agency says it is monitoring river levels in streams across the state.
The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for several counties in southern Missouri because of heavy rain Sunday morning.
