Laura Bush says Kagan nomination is 'great'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Laura Bush says she thinks it's great that Elena Kagan has been nominated for the Supreme Court.

The former first lady she's "really glad" there would be three women among the nine justices if Kagan won confirmation. Kagan would join Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor.

Laura Bush tells "Fox News Sunday" that women should be represented "in all parts of American political and civic life." She says it really makes a difference.

Former President George W. Bush also nominated a woman for the Supreme Court. But Harriet Miers, who was the White House counsel, withdrew after running into opposition from some conservatives.
