Church Service Will Go On Despite Damage to Sanctuary

We were at the Good News Baptist Church in Jennings tonight.  A large section of the roof came crashing down in the sanctuary this morning at about 10:15.  If it had happened roughly 24 hours later it would have been a "major catastrophe" as the pastor of the church said.  That section of the church would have been filled with people.

It's still too early to tell if the building can be saved.  The pastor says he doesn't think so.  Right now there are several musical instruments and thousands of dollars in audio equipment still sitting in the building.  It's too dangerous to go in and dig through the rubble to remove the valuables.

There will be a church service on Sunday morning.  It will be in the Fellowship hall in the church building next-door to the sanctuary.  As the pastor said, the church is not a building.  It is the people.
