(KMOV) -- The custody dispute over two frozen embryos has been settled.
A California couple donated four embryos to a couple in Kirkwood last year.
The local couple, the McLaughlins, gave birth to twins in January. The other embryos are at a fertility clinic and the California couple wanted them back, prompting the two sides to sue each other.
The dispute has been resolved by means of a mutual agreement.
According to a statement from attorneys in the case, a settlement says "The disposition of the embryos will be in accordance with the original intent of the parties."
The details of the settlement have not been released, so it is unclear which party gets the embryos.
