(KMOV)-- A man is charged after a domestic dispute led to a chase and shooting, then ended with a car crashing through a home in Bellefontaine Neighbors.
Joseph Burgess Stamps, 28, is still hospitalized after being shot by officers. He faces 11 criminal counts, including armed criminal action and domestic assault in the first degree.
Police said Stamps had already shot and wounded his girlfriend while chasing her by the time he drove his car through a house in the 10,000 block of Ewell on Friday.
Authorities said his girlfriend hit a tree in the front yard. She has already been treated and released.
Police said Stamps continued his crime spree by kicking in the door at a neighbors house, before pointing his gun at officers. He was shot three times with double-ought buckshot, and once with a 40-caliber handgun. He survived.
Earlier Friday, police said Stamps assaulted his girlfriend at her workplace in St. Louis County. He was arrested, and bonded out by his sister. They say he then took his sisters car without her permission, and used it to chase his girlfriend again.
Police won't release his condition, but he'll go straight to jail on a $100,000 cash bond when he is released from the hospital.
