(KMOV)--Alton High School was evacuated Monday morning after a possible bomb threat at the school.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an alleged bomb threat found on a bathroom wall. Captain Brad Wells says authorities followed proper notification procedures and evacuated the students.

Students were bused to the campus of Lewis and Clark Community College while authorities searched the school.

School personnel and members of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office secured the school building until bomb sniffing dogs from Scott Air Force Base and the St. Louis County Police Department arrived to clear the building.

During the search, a second threat was found on another bathroom wall.

Police believe it was a random threat and expect school to be open tomorrow.
