Missouri school requiring blood-alcohol tests for prom

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Students heading to Jefferson City High School's prom Saturday night will need more than just a ticket for admission.

They'll also have to pass a blood-alcohol test.

KMIZ-TV reports that this year's prom is being held off-campus for the first time, and everyone entering the event at the Capitol Plaza Hotel will have to submit to a breath test for alcohol.

A spokesman for the Jefferson City Public Schools says the tests were requested by members of the student body.

David Luther says the district wants to make sure the prom is a positive experience for everyone attending.
