CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV) -- Police say a man turned in his 15-year-old son after the teen he held up a gas station in Chesterfield on Sunday.

Police said the boy walked into the BP near the intersection of Long Rd and Chesterfield Airport Rd around 5 a.m. He then pulled out a gun and demanded money.

Police said surveillance cameras helped them identity the suspect.

“I think this is more of a mindset and a bad decision made where he made a bad choice and unfortunately those bad choices tend to catch up with you,” said Chesterfield Police Captain Steve Lewis.

The teen’s father turned over his son when police arrived at his home.

The suspect’s identity was not released because he is a juvenile.

The gas station is connected to a McDonald’s.
