Preview: Mizzou kicks off season vs. Southeastern Louisiana

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Missouri Football App) -- The Missouri Tigers Football team is gearing up for its first game of the 2012 season on Saturday.

This will be Mizzou’s first season as a member of the Southeastern Conference and they look to start out the season with a win against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

Mizzou is coming off a 2011 campaign that included an 8-5 overall record.  The Tigers ended the year by clobbering the University of North Carolina 41-24 in the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl.

Southeastern Louisiana finished last season with a 3-8 record.  The Lions especially struggled on the road last season, finishing winless in six away games. The Lions are members of the Southland Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division I-AA.

Here are some opposing players to watch on Saturday:

-#13 Robert Alford, Defensive Back: Named to “Senior Bowl Watchlist”; had 5 interceptions in 2011

-#4 Brian Young, Quarterback: 2,855 yards throwing, 15 Touchdowns; Rushed for 4 touchdowns in 2011

Mizzou had a 5-1 home record last year.  Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at home in Columbia at Memorial Stadium.
