ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Thousands of Metro-East homeowners fighting to save their homes from foreclosure have a new resource.
That help is coming in the form of a $4.5 million grant.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan on Friday announced the grant to the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation.
The money will help the foundation provide expanded legal services for homeowners who otherwise could not afford an attorney.
“This grant money will translate into real help for those who need it because the need far exceeds the current legal aid resources,” said Madigan.
The money comes from a nationwide settlement with five of the country’s largest banks.
