ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) – The time for players to step up is now if they plan on making the final cut before the Rams open the regular season on September 9 in Detroit.
The wide receiver position is one of the positions that has yet to be solidified after the first two preseason games.
“I think there is still some tough calls,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer told reporters on Wednesday. “In these next couple of games we expect to have a couple guys step up.”
The Rams currently have 12 wide receivers listed on the roster: Danario Alexander, Danny Amendola, Mike Campbell, Brandon Gibson, Charles Gilbert, Chris Givens, Brandyn Harvey, Nick Johnson, Austin Pettis, Brian Quick, Greg Salas and Steve Smith.
The Rams will play their third preseason game this Saturday at the Dallas Cowboys.
