Local high school sees first case of whooping cough

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A student at Lafayette High School has tested positive for whooping cough.

The bacteria begins with cold-like symptoms, but the cough gets much worse after one or two weeks.

The CDC just came out with new recommendations saying children should get a pertussis booster when they are around 11 years old.

Be sure and tell your doctor whether students at your children’s school have whooping cough if your children are showing symptoms.
