ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV) – Two people are in custody after they were allegedly caught trying to steal multiple cars from the Pundmann Ford dealership in St. Charles on Sunday.
Anthony Smith, 18, and Dante Keller, 18, were both charged with burglary, property damage and attempted stealing.
Police said officers responded to the dealership in the 2700 block of West Clay after getting reports of multiple people tampering with vehicles.
Upon their arrival, officers spotted several people scatter and flee the scene.
Police said Smith and Keller crossed Interstate 70 and were later captured by other responding officers.
Police investigated and discovered the suspects had broken into the used car office and got away with keys to multiple vehicles. The suspects then lined several vehicles up near the gate to quicken the getaway.
Authorities said they were interrupted by police while trying to use a van to ram the front gate open.
Police said they continue to search for other suspects who got away.
