JENNINGS, Mo (KMOV.com) -- Imagine trying on clothes and then looking up and spotting a camera right above the fitting room.
A viewer contacted News 4 after she says it happened to her at a store in Jennings. She said the camera was visible right in the ceiling.
I went to the Gen X clothing store to find out why it’s there.
The manager assures News 4 the camera is pointing away from the fitting room, and we even zoomed in on it to make sure. But customers say when you’re in the room changing, you can’t tell.
Angela Wright was trying on a dress when she looked up and spotted the black ball in the ceiling.
She says she quickly got dressed, then asked to speak with a manager about it.
She asked to see the footage but says the manager refused to show her anything unless she paid “lots of money.”
“Right there you don’t know,” Wright said of the camera’s position. “You never know who’s gonna change the direction of the camera. And there’s no way you can tell. It’s not the right place to put a camera.”
An hour after News 4 went to the store, I received a phone call telling me the camera was moved.
Upon returning to the store, News 4 confirmed it’s no longer above the fitting room.
But for Wright, it’s a little too late.
“You can move it anywhere- take it outside,” she said. “I’m not coming back in your store anymore.”
Has something like this ever happened to you? Would you care either way regardless of where the camera was pointed?
