ELGIN, Ill. -- An Illinois woman faces murder charges after her boyfriend fell and died when she hit him on the head with a frying pan.
Bail was set at $750,000 Tuesday for 34-year-old Nora Peterson of Elgin, who is charged with first-degree murder. Police say Peterson hit 55-year-old Michael Mielczarek of Elgin on Saturday afternoon during a domestic dispute. They say Mielczarek struck his head on the floor and stopped breathing.
Police say Peterson called paramedics, who took Mielczarek to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Autopsy results from the coroner’s office in Kane County found Mielczarek died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Peterson is held in the Kane County jail. She was not assigned a public defender and it was not immediately clear if she had an attorney.
