ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Following an 18-month closure, the city’s busiest Metro stations is back open with a new look.
Both trains and buses are again making stops at the Grand Bridge.
When the city tore down and rebuilt the bridge, Metro redesigned its station, adding a park and ride lot, new seats, wind shelters and elevators.
With better lighting and a lane for riders to get on and off the bus, changes also increase safety.
“This has been one of our least favorable stations in the system and part of it is because it’s in an isolated industrial area,” said Metro spokesperson Patti Beck. “It was really kind of dark. It was important to us once we got the opportunity to come in here and make improvements.”
There are more than 12,000 stops at the Grand station each day.
