PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A man has been charged for allegedly driving away after running over a jogger in St. James early Sunday morning.
James Krewson, 76, was charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police said Lisa Persicke, 44, was jogging along Old Highway 66 near County Road 2290 Sunday morning when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Krewson.
Police say Krewson then drove away from the scene.
Persicke was airlifted to St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, where she was taken into surgery to repair internal bleeding. She was later pronounced dead.
Krewson, 76, was driving a blue 2010 Dodge Caravan.
Persicke, a respiratory therapist, was training for an upcoming marathon.
