Thursday's storm takes down Illinois farm's crop

MARINE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Mills Apple Farm's apple orchards were devastated in Thursday's storm that produced high winds and heavy rain.

The owner, Jerry Mills, says that 30% of the apples on the trees ended up on the ground. Mills says the trees were already stressed due to the drought.

The farm allows people to pick their own fruit and in effort to save the crop customers can pick the good fruit from the ground for half-price starting Saturday.

Mills Apple Farm carries Jonathan, Royal Gala, Golden Delicious, and Red Delicious apples.
