EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- More troubling news for the East St. Louis School District.
A report released today says elementary school teachers were helping children cheat on the state’s standardized tests.
Teachers at officer elementary school are accused of giving students unlimited time to do their tests.
They are also accused of telling students to not press down hard when writing in answers so they could be erased later, and allowing students to work in groups for answers.
The report also says the principal at officer elementary had a code for when state administrators were in the building.
An announcement over the PA system would say “will Abraham Lincoln please come to the office.”
The principal and several teachers no longer work for the district.
