(BaseballStL) -- With four runs scored in the 1st inning of NLCS Game 3, the St. Louis Cardinals have now scored in the first frame in six of the team’s eight postseason games in 2011.

The Cardinals have now scored in the 1st inning in five straight games.  According to Elias Sports Bureau, only three other teams in MLB history have scored in the opening inning in five straight game.  Also, the Cardinals have outscored their opponents 12-7 in the 1st inning.

Prior to Game 3, the Cardinals were 3-2 when scoring in the opening frame.
