La Russa 'optimistic' about Game 3 weather

(BaseballStL) -- St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa says he is ‘cautiously optimistic’ that the weather for Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers will not postpone the game.

La Russa says he will take into consideration whether Carpernter will start Game 3 based on the weather forecast.

“My impression is that they would not start the game if they think we’re going to be stopping it soon,” La Russa said on Wednesday afternoon.  “If they said we were going to do that then we might not start Carp right away.”

La Russa did not mention which pitcher would start in place of Carpenter if play is expected to stop early in the game.

News 4 meteorologists are expecting scattered showers powered by a cold front to move through the area this evening and through the night.  They also believe the teams will be able to get the NLCS Game 3 started, but with possible delays.
