(BaseballStL) -- The regular season chatter was all about the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen woes. But in Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, all that chatter was irrelevant after six Cardinals relievers combined to allow only one hit in 4.2 innings pitched.
Despite Edwin Jackson being pulled from the game after throwing only 82 pitches through 4.1 innings, the Cardinals bullpen continued to slam the door on Brewers opportunities.
Lance Lynn picked up the win by throwing one pitch that resulted in an inning-ending double play in the 5th inning.
The Cardinals bullpen combined to allow only one run off of one hit (home run by Prince Fielder in the 8th inning) in 4.2 innings pitched. The Brewers bullpen crumbled after Marcum was roughed up after allowing five runs to score in only four innings pitched.
Four Brewers relievers combined to allow seven runs on ten hits in five innings pitched. LaTroy Hawkins was the only Brewer reliever to not allow a run.
