(KMOV) – Two men charged for mob action after gas station incident.

Two men were charged Saturday for beating a man in his own car and crashing it in Collinsville, Illinois.

Officials say just after midnight on October 2, Jose Rios-Salto and Rolando Maldonado, both 28 years old, approached the victim’s vehicle at a gas station in the 8000 block of Collinsville Road. They managed to get into the car and then assaulted the victim.

Police say the victim knew both Rios-Salto and Maldonado.

The victim noticed Rios-Salto and Maldonado driving up when he was filling his gas tank. Police say the victim walked away from his car and waited until he believed they had left.

Investigators say the victim returned to his car, Rios-Salto and Maldonado approached and attacked him. The victim was then beaten by the two, and the suspects then drove his car into a pole.

Police say they believe the suspects then fled the scene with their own vehicle.

The victim suffered head injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
