BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) -- Jon Albee thought his patrol dog, Keej, had to be dead.
Albee is a deputy with the McLean County Sheriff's Department and watched Tuesday as his Belgian Malinois (MAL'-in-wah) leapt over a wall on the top of a five-story Bloomington parking garage and over the side.
Albee told The Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington (http://bit.ly/nYnWFO ) that he rushed downstairs and was shocked to see the 4-year-old dog walking into the garage. Keej hit the roof and windshield of a parked Kia.
Albee says a veterinarian looked the dog over and found nothing worse than bruises.
Tina Braden owns the car and was nearby when Keej fell. She called it a miracle he survived the 60-foot fall.
The specially trained police dog cost $15,000.
The department will pay to fix Braden's car.
