(KMOV) --A young man was pronounced dead after crashing into the back of a semi-tractor trailer Wednesday evening.
The accident happened just outside of Alton, Illinois on the Missouri side of the Clark Bridge around 6:10 p.m.
According to authorities, Hazma J. Hamdan, 18, from Florissant, Missouri was traveling north on US 67 in a 1996 Cadillac RTC Coupe when he struck the back of a tracter trailer that had slowed down to make a turn. Police say Hamdan was not wearing a seat belt and his driver’s side airbag did not deploy.
The man was rushed to Alton Memorial Hospital with trauma to his head and body.
He was pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor at 6:55 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
