EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois woman has been sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay back more than $10,000 in public housing funds she defrauded from the federal government.
A federal judge sentenced 30-year-old Roshanda Story of Belleville on Wednesday in East St. Louis on one count of theft of government funds and three counts of making false statements.
Story pleaded guilty in June. She admitted she under-reported her income on applications to the St. Clair County Housing Authority in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
Story must make restitution, undergo a mental-health assessment and not incur any credit card charges during her probation.
