ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – The city of St. John is considering a bill to ban certain types of carports because people are using them to cover junk, which hurts property values.
Some residents feel the portable carports are eyesores, and collect trash.
City Manager Terry Milam says there may be 15 or 20 carports currently in use. Current structures would be grandfathered, but no new ones will be allowed.
The city is planning a final vote on October 17.
