EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois woman faces up to five years in federal prison for bilking the U.S. government of more than $55,000 in disability benefits prosecutors want her to repay.
Sixty-year-old Delores Holton of Fairview Heights has pleaded guilty to one count of concealing material from the Social Security Administration.
Authorities say that from 2002 through 2008, Holton defrauded by using with various employers a different Social Security number other than the one under which she received disability benefits.
Prosecutors say Holton was confronted years ago with her use of two different numbers, and that she agreed in writing to use only the one under which the benefits were paid.
Holton's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 30 in East St. Louis.
