The Family Resource Center (FRC) started a Junior Advocacy Board last year. If you are not familiar with the FRC, they provide supportive care to approximately 10,000 children and parents in the St. Louis area each year. Their programs help kids heal from the trauma of abuse and neglect, and strengthen families through therapeutic, educational, support and advocacy services.
The Junior Advocacy Board's mission is to increase awareness of FRC's mission among young adults, promote FRC in the community, and help Junior Advocacy Board members develop skills and experiences which will enable them to serve in future key roles on Family Resource Center's Governance and Advocacy Boards.
The Junior Advocacy Board holds many fundraisers throughout the year, including the Ready, Set, Go! 5k Run/Walk coming up on Saturday, May 16th, 2009. Click here for more information!
They also hold a Volleyball Tournament, a "Serving the Cause" celebrity bartending event, WinterFest, and various happy hours throughout the year.
The Junior Advocacy Board is always looking for new young professionals who would either like to join the board, or get involved by hosting or volunteering at one of their events. To talk to someone about joining the board, contact their volunteer coordinator, Tina Nelson, at 314.534.9350 or via email at email@example.com.
