WILDWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) — Police were searching for two suspects who robbed a woman at gunpoint outside her Wildwood home early Thursday morning.
Police said a woman pulled into her garage in the 2000 block of Medicine Bow Drive around 12 a.m.
She tried putting the garage door down, but it would not close.
Police said she got out to see why it was not working when an armed man approached her and demanded money.
According to Randy Vaughn with the St. Louis County Police Department, the suspect stole her purse and a stroller.
Officers searched the area and determined another suspect was involved in the robbery.
Police said the victim could only give a vague description of the suspects because she was “shaken up.” No weapon was recovered at the scene.
Police initially suspended their search, but returned to the West County neighborhood around 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
Police brought in a K-9 team to help search for the suspects and a police helicopter circled the neighborhood for nearly an hour.
Investigators were also canvassing the neighborhood to talk with any potential witnesses and look for additional clues during daylight hours.
Residents in the affluent neighborhood usually worry more about hitting a deer in the street than getting robbed. Wildwood’s median income in $114,000 while. It’s $57,000 in St. Louis County.
“This is Wildwood. This is very unique,” said Vaughn.
