ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV) -- The St. Charles Police Department wants to add seven SUVs to its patrol fleet this year.
The City Council introduced a bill that would authorize the purchase of seven Chevy Tahoes from West Brothers Ford, Inc. The council discussed the issue in a special session Tuesday night. The bill would authorize the purchase for $184,261.
Department officials say Ford Motor Company no longer manufactures the Crown Victoria police vehicle, and the staff has been exploring other options. According to a report, the staff, “believes the Chevrolet Police Tahoe to be the best fit and best value for the department.”
The proposal also includes plans to purchase Ford sedans, in addition to the SUVs.
