SAN ANTONIO -- Police say a suspect in a high-speed chase tried to grab an officer's gun while struggling to get away early Wednesday morning.
The chase started after officers heard a crash on Frio Street and then saw a damaged Nissan driving away from the accident, police said.
The driver refused to stop, police said, and led officers on a chase that ended in the 400 block of Patton Boulevard, on the city's west side.
Two men jumped out of the car and tried to run, but were quickly caught up to by the officers. Police said one of the suspects grabbed an officer's gun just before he was handcuffed.
The two men are facing charges for resisting and evading arrest. The driver is also looking at a DWI charge.
The names of the suspects were not immediately available.
Police said a third man, who was sitting in the backseat, will not be charged because he did not try to run from police.
