City of O'Fallon holds Patriot Day event

O'FALLON, Mo. ( – The City of O'Fallon invited the public to attend a Patriot Day event on Tuesday morning.

The city is called the event “A Tribute to First Responders.” The event was held at the First Responders 9-11 Memorial outside the O’Fallon Police Department at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre, 100 North Main Street.

The ceremony included Police, Fire and Ambulance District Honor Guard, the sounding of sirens followed by a moment of silence, and an opportunity for attendees to place flowers at the memorial. The First Responders Memorial was created with steel salvaged from the fallen World Trade Center buildings.

A handful of city officials were on hand to give remarks and the music director for St. Dominic High School played “Taps.”
