NORMANDY, Mo (KMOV.com) – A man babysitting his sister’s children has reportedly killed himself after firing on the mother Sunday night.
Normandy police confirm Jerry Brown, 32, was looking after three children in the 5600 block of Parchester Drive.
When their mother came home, she and Brown reportedly had an argument. As she walked past him to check on her children, he reportedly pulled a gun and shot her in the back.
Brown then pointed his gun into his chest and pulled the trigger. According to Normandy Police Chief Frank Mininni, it is unknown why Brown fired on his sister.
The victim ran to a neighbors to call for help, and according to Mininni, has been released from the hospital following treatment. Brown died from his wounds.
None of the children were injured in the incident.
It is unknown the exact ages of the children, but all were under 14.
Mininni says his department has no information that Brown had a criminal history. It’s not immediately clear why Brown had the gun while babysitting, but the weapon is being checked for ballistics to see if it was legally obtained.
