MANCHESTER, Mo. (KMOV) – Police say the manager of an Uncle Bill’s Pancake House location was kidnapped from the restaurant and robbed Sunday afternoon.

The victim told police he had just emptied the safe at the restaurant in the 14000 block of Manchester Road around 4:30 p.m. when two men wearing towels over their heads came in through a back door the business leaves open and unlocked.

The manager was holding receipts in a small cardboard box when the suspects pepper sprayed him, knocked off his glass and forced him into his own vehicle. They then pepper sprayed him again.

Authorities said one of the suspects drove the victim’s car while the other sat in the backseat with the manager.

The suspects eventually stopped near the intersection of Boardman Street and Shaw Avenue. Police said they grabbed the receipts, the victim’s money and wallet and fled the scene after they pepper sprayed him again.

According to police, someone driving by saw the victim and helped him flush his eyes with water before calling authorities.

Authorities said St. Louis police arrived to the scene and contacted Manchester authorities, who are investigating the incident.

Police did not say how the suspects knew the victim would be emptying the safe at the time of the kidnapping.

No other injuries were reported.
