GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV)—Teen suffers major injuries after he crashes his car through building in Granite City, Illinois early Thursday morning.
Officials with the Granite City Police Department say a male teen crashed his vehicle into the city animal shelter on the 2900 block of Missouri Avenue just after 1 a.m.
The teen, 17- 18 years old, was seriously injured and was taken by helicopter to a St. Louis hospital for treatment. No animals were injured in the incident.
Police have not released information relating to how the accident happened or the identity of this teen. They do believe the wreck caused substantial damage to the city animal shelter.
Authorities say at this point there is no evidence to lead them to believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this wreck.
The investigation is ongoing.
