ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – A day after leaving a game early due to lower back tightness, Matt Holliday was left out of the lineup for the series finale against the Mets.
Holliday was forced to leave in the seventh inning of a 5-1 victory over the Mets on Tuesday night when he pulled up on his way to first base following a walk.
Despite not being in the starting lineup, Holliday said he was fine and was already scheduled to have Wednesday off, according to MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch.
Holliday will get an extra day of rest because the team has a scheduled off day on Thursday. It is unknown whether Holliday will be available for the series opener against the Brewers at Busch Stadium on Friday night.
